Chevronimo!
Maritza got it started, Ashley came in second, and Megan beat me to it (a photo finish, though), but I've finally gone and done it. The Chevron is complete!
This project is super-special to me, because it really brought me back to knitting after a long dry spell. I think it was the appeal of the colors that did it. Or maybe I just want to do everything Ashley does. That's looking like a distinct possibility.
But wait! There's more! I finished not one, but TWO scarves this weekend. The second one is Branching Out, which I've been working on as a "demo" ever since we started teaching our after-school class lace knitting last year. This scarf spent the summer languishing in storage at school and then reemerged in September and grew slowly, about an inch a week, during carpool. I do think I'm the only one in the class who actually finished it, though.
Not to knock the kids, bless 'em. This year at our Family Fun Day, the knitting booth raised $710 dollars, mostly through the sale of frizzy knitted monsters, and the class voted to send it all to UNICEF for the children of Darfur. Yep. Fun Fur did that.
Of course I've started on some blue booties with the leftover Koigu from the Chevron, and will be soon asking your advice on the Big Blanket Dilemma (log cabin? mitered squares? spiral? crochet (gulp) ripple?) and your favorite must-knit baby items. In the meantime, though, the Biscuit and I are headed to the farm for a much-needed spring break amongst the chickens and dogs and tall grasses. I'll leave you with two parting shots:
(...for those who were concerned about the lack of ice cream in the last pie shot.)
(...to let you know I'm finally, really, truly, back. And it feels good. Oh, and for the certain someone who gets such a kick out of this shot.)

Yay yay yay finished Chevron! It looks so great--that might be my secret favorite color combo (secret because I don't want to hurt MY chevron's feelings, of course). Branching Out looks great too, and that is so great about your kids and their Darfur Fun Fur.
And of course it's mutual: you make pie? _I_ want to make pie! Yes...master...will...go...make...pie...now...

Mmmmm. Pumpkin Pie.... the scarves are yummy too! There's nothing quite so comfortable to me as a handknit scarf :)

Fantastic! I've seen a few of those chevron scarves around. You definitely get kudos for the ice cream.

your chevron is what got me thinking about a chevron. your color choice is great -- not something i would have selected and yet they work so nice together.
ps - you can really feel your energy in this post! it's so nice to see you back :)

You look so cute in your new chevron awesomeness! And HA! I have Stuart the Squirrel from Maritza's softie madness... he'll be making his appearance on my blog soon enough... now, what were you saying about doing everything a certain someone does? Hrm, I think I might just fall into that category as well.

Gorgeous scarf. I just cast on for one myself and I blame Ashley for that as well. Glad you are doing well. Have fun on the farm with Biscuit.
Mmm, pie.

YAY! The scarf is gorgeous!!! I LOVE the colors you chose for it. And that Branching Out looks pretty darn fabulous, too.
P.S. - I am so happy to see that Tulane has arrived. Hope you love 'im!

Jeez louise. I have resisted the chevron but you're pushing my buttons. I hope the farm is perfect.

Fun FUR for DarFUR, I smell a new campaign... that's great!
Those two scarves are both fabulous! Love the bright colours in the chevron! What yarn did you use for Branching Out?

Kudos to you! Your scarves look just as delish as that pie and ice cream.
I started strong on mine but it's been on hold. Good on you for seeing it through!

Ok, two scarves in one weekend? So impressive! I have great difficulty finishing scarves, it's one of my many issues. Have a great spring break!

1 - You should go with the ripple, baby. 2 - Ice cream, yummmmm. 3 - Glad, so glad, you're back!

Your Chevron looks amazing - great colours.
That is incredible what your kids accomplished with Fun Fur - good for them!
I was looking at your sidebar and I want to tell you that I love Aimee Mann. And the Nature Defecit Disorder looks very interesting.
